This February, UP Kalilayan will be holding its flagship project, the TAGISAN 33. One of the country’s largest provincial interschool competitions, Tagisan is an annual gathering of the brightest junior high school students from Quezon and Aurora.
On its 33rd edition, Tagisan is in pursuit of exploring the contributions of the youth sector in educating, engaging, and empowering an active electoral citizenry. With the theme, “Books and Ballots: Championing Youth Involvement in Advancing Electoral Literacy,” it aims to spotlight the role of the Filipino youth in generating awareness on the importance of citizen-oriented voter education. Across divisive campaign messages and deceptive information, Tagisan 33 recognizes the potential of the Filipino youth in effecting matured and knowledgeable political attitudes in the electorate. Tagisan 33 will be held on two schedules, February 10, Sunday for its Preliminary Debate Eliminations; and February 17, Sunday for its Main Event. This will feature a lecture from an invited speaker as well as the following contest categories: Quiz Show, Essay Writing, Pagsulat ng Sanaysay, Impromptu Speech, Dagliang Talumpati, Debate, and Poster Making Contest.
