October 07, 2019 - October 12, 2019 - 9:00 am - 10:00 pm
Film Center, UP Diliman
On October 7-12, 2019, the UP Film Institute will hold the UPFI Experimental Film Festival as part of the celebration of the centennial of Philippine cinema. We are proud to say that the experimental film movement historically emerged from the workshops conducted here at our university since 1974 when the now UP Film Institute used to be the Film Center. It is but fitting that during the centennial of Philippine cinema, we are commemorating the contributions the university has given to transforming Filipino film culture. To be screened in the festival are works produced by various filmmakers, artists, and students who have contributed to the country’s experimental film heritage.
We invite you to come and celebrate this important event and appreciate this rich film heritage as the institute unveils its first-ever experimental film festival. Along with the film screenings, a series of panel discussions will be launched that will further deepen the discourse on various issues surrounding experimental filmmaking in the country.
The festival will be held at the UPFI Film Center, UP Diliman. The screenings are free on a first-come, first-served basis. The seminar fee is Php 500.00 for the whole day session while Php 250.00 for per session. This event is open to the public.
