The University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman announced Monday, August 3 the suspension of office work on campus except for essential offices beginning Tuesday, August 4, as Metro Manila reverts to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

President Rodrigo Duterte placed Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal under MECQ from August 4 to 18 in response to the plea of healthcare workers.

The University Health Service, Campus Maintenance Office, Public Safety and Security Office, Diliman Environmental Management Office, Accounting Office, Budget Office, Cash Office, Human Resources Development Office, Private Automated Branch Exchange, Supply and Property Management Office, University Food Service, Office of Student Housing, Office of the Campus Architect, Balay Kalinaw, Office of the University Registrar, and the UP Diliman Information Office will all continue their operations under a skeleton workforce.

Work from home arrangements and other alternative work schemes will also be implemented, according to University officials.

UP Diliman is also set to strictly limit entry inside its campus during the MECQ period. “UPD Campus will be closed to non-skeleton workforce of the essential units and non-residents for security and safety reasons.”
