UP Diliman University Student Council (USC) Chairperson Sean Angelo Thakur resigned from his council position effective Wednesday, August 19.
Thakur tendered his resignation last week, citing his inability to continue with the holdover term due to personal commitments, the USC said in a statement.
“I know that it’s crucial for USC’s leadership to stay proactive. I won’t be able to fulfill that anymore, but I’ll always support the Council and its efforts to serve the people,” Thakur explained in a Facebook post.
USC Vice Chairperson Kenneth Eser Jose has assumed the chairpersonship, following the provisions of the Student Election Code.
According to the USC, “the Office of the Vice Chairperson shall be filled by an incumbent councilor to be voted upon by the body during the next regular General Assembly.”
Two other council members recently stepped down from their respective posts. They are Paul Redillas, former Engineering Representative to the USC, and Jeremy Valmonte, former Councilor.
