The victim of a campus stabbing incident on Monday, July 8 is now in stable condition, University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs Roehl Jamon told DZUP on Tuesday.

In a text message, Jamon confirmed that the survivor is a female and not a student of UP Diliman.

The perpetrators, described as males in their early 20s, remain at large.

“They posed as students,” Jamon said. “They look like your average UP student.”

The Vice Chancellor stated that measures are being implemented to ensure campus security.

He also urged the UP Diliman community to be more vigilant. “Security is everyone’s concern. If anyone sees someone suspicious, report to the nearest security personnel,” he said.

In a previous advisory, the UP Diliman administration said its local police force received information about the incident at the National Science Complex around 8 pm on Monday.

“The victim was immediately taken to the hospital, and the Quezon City Police District has now taken over the case,” the advisory stated.

“Everyone is reminded to stay vigilant and report anything suspicious to the authorities.”

The University administration assured stakeholders that it will continue to deploy security personnel throughout the campus. – with reports from Rex Espiritu
