The Quezon City (QC) local government suspended classes at all levels in both public and private schools on Wednesday, September 4, due to continued heavy rainfall across Metro Manila. Residents are advised to stay indoors and take necessary precautions.
This marks the third consecutive day of class suspensions in QC due to the severe weather brought by Tropical Cyclone Enteng and the enhanced southwest monsoon.
Malacañang had previously suspended classes and government work across the entire National Capital Region on Monday and Tuesday.
While the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported in its 5 am bulletin on Wednesday that Tropical Cyclone Enteng has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility, it warned of “moderate to intense rainfall in other areas of Luzon, especially along the western portions,” over the next three days due to the enhanced southwest monsoon.
PAGASA forecasts heavy to intense rains on Wednesday over Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro, with moderate to heavy rains expected in northern Palawan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, La Union, and Benguet.
For Thursday, heavy to intense rains remain possible over Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro, while moderate to heavy rains may continue in northern Palawan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Nueva Ecija.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has reported that 12 individuals have died due to the impact of Tropical Cyclone Enteng.
