In related news, Malacañang announced on Tuesday, July 23, the suspension of work in all government offices and classes at all levels in Metro Manila.
The memorandum circular, effective as of 2:00 pm on Tuesday, was issued in response to the “continuous rainfall brought about by the Southwest Monsoon and Typhoon Carina.”
Despite the suspension, the Palace directive states that agencies “whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness and response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.”
Private organizations have the discretion to decide whether to suspend work.
According to the latest bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Metro Manila will experience moderate to intense rainfall from Tuesday through Thursday due to the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Carina.
Pagasa has also warned Metro Manila residents about the likelihood of strong to gale-force gusts throughout most of the week due to the interaction of the two weather systems.
