As part of this year’s Freshie Month activities at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, the UP Diliman University Student Council (USC) held a campus tour for new students to familiarize them with campus buildings and spaces, September 13-14.
Freshmen experienced touring the sprawling campus aboard the UP Ikot jeep, allowing them to observe UP Diliman’s facilities and get a firsthand feel of university life.
Speaking to DZUP Balita, UP College of Mass Communication Representative to the USC Edelweiss Nazal stressed the significance of this tour. “Talagang maraming bagong apak lang sa loob ng kampus so maganda ipakilala sila sa different spaces. Aside from seeing the buildings—mga architectural wonders dito sa UP—importante rin na makita nila ang reality sa atin,” she said.
(Many are setting foot on the campus for the first time, so it is essential to introduce them to various spaces. Beyond marveling at our architectural landmarks, it is crucial for them to grasp the real essence of UP.)
Nazal also offered some words of caution to the newcomers. “As UP students, of course, mag-ingat táyo sa weather conditions. Magdala táyo lagi ng payong,” she advised.
(While navigating through the campus, always be mindful of weather conditions. Always carry an umbrella with you.)
Aside from the tour, the UP Diliman USC also held an organization and community fair from September 28 to 29.
The annual University Freshie Month is a series of events which aims to welcome the UP Diliman’s newest members.
