The University of the Philippines (UP) Board of Regents (BOR) on Thursday, February 23 confirmed the ad interim appointments of new UP System officials.

At present, the administrative team of UP President Angelo Jimenez includes Jose Fernando Alcantara as Executive Vice President, Dr. Maria Cynthia Rose Bautista as Vice President (VP) for Academic Affairs, Iryn Yap-Balmores as VP for Planning and Finance, Nestor Yunque as VP for Administration, Dr. Ferdinand Jesus Pecson as VP for Development, Dr. Jose Wendell Capili as VP for Public Affairs, Atty. Abraham Rey Acosta as VP for Legal Affairs, Atty. Roberto Lara as Secretary of the University and of the BOR, and Ricky Dela Torre as Special Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff.

Moreover, Noreen Escultura’s appointment as Assistant VP for Planning and Finance got the approval of the Board.

The University President also appointed several Advisers, according to Memorandum No. PAJ 2023-01 which was obtained by DZUP through Capili. They are Dr. Leo Cubillan for Academic and Research Development, Dr. Emmanuel Lallana for Digital Transformation, Dr. Elena Pernia for Public Affairs, and Shari Niña Oliquino for Student Affairs.

Cubillan will replace Bautista as VP for Academic Affairs by April.

“All Assistant Vice Presidents, Directors, and other officials who are coterminous with the previous administration are to continue in a holdover capacity until 28 February 2023, or unless sooner replaced or reappointed,” the memo read.

Jimenez took over as University President last February 10, succeeding Atty. Danilo Concepcion.
