UP Diliman University Student Council (USC) Chairperson Kenneth Eser Jose suspended the 20th General Assembly (GA) of the USC, after a “very taxing” five-hour session.

The GA was suspended at 11:47 pm, August 27.

Thursday night’s GA would have elected the new USC Vice Chairperson, filling the vacancy prompted by the assumption as Chairperson of then Vice Chairperson Eser Jose following the resignation of former USC Chair Sean Thakur last August 19.

The USC was not able to discuss the other agenda for the GA including the issue of class postponement.

Before the suspension, 15 out of 29 voting members of the Council chose Dava to assume the Vice Chairperson position. Santos received 12 votes while two Council members abstained. However, both Dava and Santos failed to get the vote of the simple majority which led to a series of arguments on the manner of voting.

Eser Jose said the schedule of the resumption of the USC’s 20th GA will be announced at a later time.
