LOOK: For the first time since the pandemic struck, the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Mass Communication (CMC) Student Council (SC) held on Monday, September 11 its Organization Fair for CMC freshmen, shiftees, and transferees (FSTs).

The fair showcased several booths from 11 participating student organizations.

They are the UP Communication Research Society, UP Broadcasters’ Guild, UP Broadcasting Association, UP Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Komunikasyon, UP Journalism Club, Union of Journalists of the Philippines-UP Diliman, UP Cinema, UP Cinema Arts Society, UP Cineastes’ Studio, Student Alliance for the Advancement of Democratic Rights in UP-CMC, and Tinig ng Plaridel.

With the fair, FSTs had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with existing college formations, purchase official merchandise, and interact with their peers.

In an interview with DZUP, CMCSC Chair and UP Journalism student Kiara Gorrospe emphasized the importance of holding the activity.

“Sa Maskom, kitang-kita talaga na ang mga orgs natin ay isa sa mga [nagbibigay búhay] ng kultura ng mga estudyante. Pagpapakita itong org fair na handa na ang mga org para salubungin ang mga freshies,” Gorrospe said.

(In CMC, our organizations really are one of the things that give life to student culture. The holding of this org fair indicates that our orgs are ready to welcome the freshmen.)

Later in the day, UP CMC Dean Fernando Paragas, Associate Dean Wowie Lomibao, College Secretary Ivy Claudio, and other College officials welcomed the FSTs during the College Freshmen Welcome Assembly.
